The aim of the ATSAF Academy is to involve students from German universities and from universities of OECD-DAC Partner countries in CGIAR++ research projects and in this way strengthen the links between German universities and international, development-oriented agricultural research.
Currently, the ATSAF Academy offers two scholarship programs:
- A PhD Research Scholarship of EUR 1,500 per month for a period of 3 years (with the possibility for a 12-month extension) and a research grant of up to EUR 25,000.
- A Career Exploration Scholarship (JST-Junior Scientists Tandems), where ATSAF e.V. financially supports students over a period of 6 months with up to EUR 7,000.
These projects are commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and are carried out by ATSAF e.V. on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. In cooperation with professors from German universities and CGIAR++ centers, ATSAF e.V. has established the ATSAF Academy via the ACINAR- and JST-project.
The Scholars benefit from multiple synergies such as the accompanying scientific support program with courses, seminars, and networking platforms.
